Brad Bird Has Started Writing THE INCREDIBLES 2
The Incredibles is my number one favorite Pixar movie, and if there's one movie from the animation studio that I'd love to see a sequel to, it's this one. There's been talk of an Incredibles 2 happening for years. Director Brad Bird started talking about it about three years ago when he said that if he could figure out a good story to tell, he would do it. Then a year ago he said,
"I have many, many elements that I think would work really well in another [Incredibles] film, and if I can get ‘em to click all together, I would probably wanna do that."
It was around the time of that quote that Disney head Bob Iger announced that Bird was currently working on a story for the sequel. Now, according to Bird, he has started to write it! He revealed the news in an interview with NPR (via The Playlist). When he was asked about The Incredibles 2, the filmmaker said:
"I’m just starting to write it, so we’ll see what happens."
I imagine he has been developing a story over the last year, and handed off what he had to a team at Pixar to work on while he was directing Tomorrowland for Disney. It was obviously far enough along a year ago for Iger to make an official announcement. Maybe now Bird has taken a good look at what has been developed over that time, and is actually starting to write the script.
I'm just excited that there is still movement on the project, and I'm excited to see what comes of it.
