Brad Bird Reveals New Story Details For INCREDIBLES 2 and Shows Off Some Hilarious Footage
During the Disney Animation presentation at the D23 Expo, writer and director Brad Bird took the stage to talk about The Incredibles 2! He shared a few bits of story details and showed fans a hilariously fun action-packed clip!
As we reported yesterday, Incredibles 2 will take place one minute after the first film ends. It will pick up right after the family strikes that heroic pose. The director then revealed that Craig T. Nelson would return as Mr. Incredible and Holly Hunter would return as Elastigirl along with Sarah Vowell as Violet, and newcomer Huck Milner as Dashiell, and then, of course, there's baby Jack Jack. Oh, and I can't forget about Samuel L. Jackson reprising his role as Frozone!
Bird revealed details of the upcoming caper, which puts the family into an expanded universe that includes new allies and a brand-new villain. “‘Incredibles 2’ is really a family film, it’s just that the family happens to have super powers,” said Bird. “They may have super speed or super strength, but they experience the same problems as any family.”
Bird went on to reveal that the story for the film will revolve around Elastigirl, not Mr. Incredible. A series of events will lead her on an adventure while Mr. Incredible stays at home taking care of Jack Jack. This is where the clip that Bird showed off comes in.
The scene starts out with Mr. fantastic falling asleep while watching TV with Jack Jack. They are watching an old-school style crime caper and as Jack Jack is watching he hears a noise outside. As he looks out the sliding glass window he sees a raccoon in the trash can. After the baby tries and fails to shoo it away he uses his power to crawl through the glass sliding door. This leads to a hilarious fight between the baby and the raccoon! They are beating the living hell out of each other! It's pretty damn funny. As the fight progresses Jack Jack starts using his different powers. At one point he bursts into flames which scares the hell out of the raccoon! Green laser beams then start shooting out of his eyes and he's trying to laser the raccoon to death. As this is going on Mr. Fantastic wakes out and comes out side to see what Jack Jack has done. remember, Mr.s Fantastic doesn't know that Jack Jack has any powers, this is the first time he realizes it and he's so happy! Until he realizes it will be a much much harder taking care of a baby with uncontrollable superpowers.
John Lasseter also shared an amusing video with fans that focuses on super-suit stylist Edna Mode and what the world thinks of her. It's quite amusing. You can watch the below if you want. Heidi Klum, Kendall Jenner, Zac Posen and Rachel Zoe are all featured in the video.
The Incredibles is my favorite Pixar film and I'm so excited to see the sequel! I loved that clip that was shown. It shows that this sequel will be just as good, or better than the original. Incredibles 2 hits theaters on June 15, 2018.
