Brad Pitt Embarks on a Space Mission to Find Tommy Lee Jones in First Trailer for AD ASTRA
The first trailer has finally been released for Brad Pitt’s upcoming sci-fi thriller Ad Astra, which was directed by James Grey (The Lost City of Z). In the film, Pitt embarks on a mission into space to find his missing dad, who is played by Tommy Lee Jones, and, of course, save the Earth.
This film has been in development since 2017! The director previously explained that he’s working on the special effects in the film to make sure that they were just right. After all, this is his first big VFX movie. He’s explained, “I’ve been very insistent because I didn’t want to be up against a release date. Science fiction films (often) have a number of shots that don’t look very good.” He had to review over 600 VFX shots and make sure they were up to his standards.
I’m looking forward to this movie! I’m a huge fan of films that deal with space travel! It looks like it’s going to tell a fantastic and intense sci-fi story! Here’s the synopsis for the movie:
Twenty years after his father left on a one-way mission to Neptune in order to find signs of extra-terrestrial intelligence, Roy McBride, an engineer, travels through the solar system to find him and understand why his mission failed.
The film also stars Ruth Negga, Donald Sutherland, Jamie Kennedy, John Finn, Kimberly Elise, Bobby Nish, LisaGay Hamilton, and John Ortiz.
Ad Astra opens in theaters on September 20th, 2019.
