Brad Pitt Reportedly Circling a Villain Role in THE BATMAN: PART II
Casting for The Batman: Part II is ramping up as production gears toward an early start next year, and the sequel might be pulling in another heavyweight name. After reports that Scarlett Johansson is close to joining the film in a mysterious role, a new wave of reports are saying that Brad Pitt could be the next major star stepping into Matt Reeves’ Gotham.
The idea of Pitt entering the world of The Batman sparked online after Jeff Sneider mentioned the actor’s name on The Hot Mic podcast. Sneider made it clear that he was not staking ownership of the rumor, explaining that he had not been able to verify it, but Pitt’s name has been circulating from other sources as well.
Nothing is confirmed, although Pitt’s strong relationship with Warner Bros. and his past producing work with Robert Pattinson make the possibility feel a little more plausible.
If Pitt does join the sequel, fans are speculation who he might play. Harvey Dent and Tommy Elliot, better known as Hush, are the two names fans keep raising. Both would fit comfortably within Reeves’ grounded Gotham, each offering a different path into the dark psychological storytelling that defined the first movie.
Johansson’s role remains a secret, but many believe she could be bringing Andrea Beaumont to live action. Known to fans as the Phantasm, Andrea has never been realized in a live action film, which lines up with Reeves’ earlier tease that the movie’s central antagonist would be someone audiences have not seen portrayed in this medium before.
Reeves recently spoke about why everyone involved is keeping such a tight lid on the story. “Because of what the first movie was and what [The Batman: Part 2] is, which is so much a detective story, the idea of trying to protect the secrets of the movie is super important because it’s a mystery.
“That would be an extra level of heartbreak if that part of it started getting out. You wanna keep the surprise so the fans... can have the fun experience that I always love going to the movies, which was to go and be surprised.”
Alongside returning cast members like Colin Farrell, who expanded Oswald Cobblepot’s saga in The Penguin, several others are already locked in for the sequel. Pattinson has reportedly read the script after receiving it in a secure envelope that required a separate code to open.
Early word is that he was very happy with the direction of the story, which is said to take Batman into territory we have not seen explored on screen.
Whether Pitt ultimately enters the picture or not, The Batman: Part II is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated DC films on the horizon and it will be released on October 1, 2027.
