Bradley Cooper in Talks to Join Margot Robbie in Warner Bros’ Ocean’s Prequel
Warner Bros is putting together quite the stylish team for its upcoming Ocean’s prequel, and it looks like Bradley Cooper may be joining the heist.
According to reports, Cooper is currently in negotiations to star opposite Margot Robbie, with Lee Isaac Chung (Twisters) set to direct. Robbie’s production company, LuckyChap, is producing the project.
Sources reveal that Cooper and Robbie have been close friends for years and have wanted to work together for some time. This prequel presented the perfect opportunity for the two to finally team up. After a meeting with Chung, Cooper was reportedly all in.
Details about the film’s story are being kept tightly under wraps, but in classic Ocean’s fashion, the plot is locked away like one of Danny Ocean’s safes.
What’s known is that the movie will serve as a prequel to the iconic franchise, with a screenplay written by Carrie Solomon, based on characters created by George Clayton Johnson and Jack Golden Russell.
Production on the film is expected to begin next year, adding yet another exciting project to Cooper’s growing list at Warner Bros. The actor and filmmaker already has a strong relationship with the studio, where his production deal is based. He’s also set to star in and produce the upcoming Bullitt remake, directed by Steven Spielberg.
Before he dives into the Ocean’s world, Cooper will premiere his latest film Is This Thing On? at the New York Film Festival. The Searchlight Pictures dramedy sees him both directing and starring, continuing his streak of creative ventures both in front of and behind the camera.
