Bradley Cooper Set to Star in Steven Spielberg's New BULLITT Action-Thriller

Earlier this year it was announced that Steven Spielberg was going to direct an original film that will center on Frank Bullitt, who was originally played by Steve McQueen in the 1968 film Bullitt. We’ve now learned that Bradley Cooper is set to star in the movie, which is the next film that Spielberg will direct.

The original film was directed by Peter Yates, and it was based on the 1963 novel Mute Witness. The film became McQueen’s most iconic role, and he portrayed a detective who investigates the death of a mob informant he was hired to protect. The movie is famous for including one of the best and most exciting car chases in movie history. McQueen even did his own stunts in the movie with a modified Ford Mustang.

We don’t have any plot details to share for the new movie, but it’s expected to follow Bullitt on an entirely different adventure.

Josh Singer (The Post, Spotlight) is set to write the script, with regular Spielberg collaborator Kristie Macosko Krieger on board to produce. Also, McQueen’s son Chad McQueen and granddaughter Molly McQueen are executive producing.

Cooper has big shoes to fill with this project, but I think he’s a great choice, and I have no doubt that he’s going to be awesome in the movie. I can’t wait to see what Spielberg does with this! What do you think about Cooper’s casting?
