Intense Clip From Sam Mendes' WWI Epic 1917 Entitled 'Running Through Ruins'

We’ve got an incredible new clip from award-winning director Sam Mendes’ (American Beauty, Revolutionary Road) upcoming war epic, 1917. Every shot in this film is so beautiful, and this scene is not different. Entitled “Running through ruins,” the long, sweeping, single shot follows a man running for his life, and ends with a long jump. The entire thing is captivating and makes me even more excited to see this film.

Here’s the synopsis:

At the height of the First World War, two young British soldiers, Schofield (Captain Fantastic’s George MacKay) and Blake (Game of Thrones’ Dean-Charles Chapman) are given a seemingly impossible mission. In a race against time, they must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers—Blake’s own brother among them.

The film stars Colin Firth, Benedict Cumberbatch, Richard Madden, Mark Strong, Dean-Charles Chapman, George MacKay, and Andrew Scott. Check out the clip below, and see 1917 in theaters on December 25, 2019.
