Brandon Routh to Play Kingdom Come Superman in The CW's "Crisis on Infinite Earths" Crossover Event

DC fans will be excited to learn that Superman star Brandon Routh is set to play the Kingdom Come version of Superman in The CW’s upcoming "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover event! The announcement came at Comic-Con during the DC TV panel, and Routh showed up at the panel wearing a Superman t-shirt to announce the news.

There’s no word on how Routh's new version of the Man of Steel will be worked into the Arrowverse or if this character will have any connection to Routh’s previous take on the character in Superman Returns. But I’ve always liked Routh’s version of Superman, and I’m pretty excited to see him play the Kingdom Come version of the character! I never thought I’d see him play Superman again.

This Kingdom Come take on Superman was a DC comic miniseries that was a reimagining from Mark Waid and Alex Ross, and it gave us an older, darker take on Superman as his faith in humanity and their reliance on superheroes is destroyed. He ends up retreating to the Fortress of Solitude. In has absence there is a rise of dangerous super villains and years later, when he returns to reform the Justice League, they construct a prison to put all these villains in.

Are you excited to see Routh play Kingdom Come Superman in "Crisis on Infinite Earths"?

“Crisis on Infinite Earths" will debut across ArrowThe FlashLegends of TomorrowSupergirl, and Batwoman later this year.
