BRAVELY DEFAULT: A Truly Brave RPG for the 3DS
Bravely Default is exactly what the Brave in its name implies. It combines a beautiful art style and some truly unique AR functions and lays them on top of some tried and true RPG gameplay. The result is something that, to me at least, is a reason to own a 3DS.
The game had me at Job system, but for those unfamiliar I'll go into a bit of detail. There are a ton of different jobs (or classes if you will) to pick from, but instead of being constrained to the specific abilities of that job (ala picking a wizard, and only having use to spells), Bravely lets you take pieces of that job and merge them into another one, which opens up lots of possibilities. The characters are charming and have that Final Fantasy feel of old, and the art style is beyond breathtaking. The game also features an AR function, which will allow you to scan symbols in the real world to open up dialogue and unique interactions with the characters in the game. You can read a bit more about it in this excellent preview from Gamespot, and you can peep the newest trailer below.
