BREAKING BAD’s Jesse Plemons Joins Tom Cruise in MENA
Tom Cruise and Doug Liman are teaming up again for a film project called Mena. They previously worked together on Edge of Tomorrow, which was awesome, so the fact they are making another movie together is a great thing. Variety is reporting that Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad, Friday Night Lights) has joined the cast which also includes Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina), Sarah Wright (Parks and Recreation), E. Roger Mitchell (Selma), Caleb Landry Jones (X-Men: First Class), Jayma Mays (Glee), and Benito Martinez (House of Cards).
Cruise is playing a man named Barry Seal in the film, which is based on a true story. Seal was a hustler and TWA pilot who was “unexpectedly recruited by the CIA to run one of the biggest covert operations in U.S. history — one that spawned the birth of the Medellin cartel and eventually almost brought down the Reagan White House through the Iran Contra scandal.”
Liman said about the project:
“I love stories of improbable heroes working against the system, and Barry Seal took the government, and our country, for an unbelievable ride. Interpreting his story has the makings for an entertaining film that is equal parts satire, suspense and comedy — and always surprising.”
This is an intriguing story, and one that I’m sure this talent will bring to life fantastically. The movie is set to be released on January 6th, 2017.
