Brendan Fraser Heads to Mars in Sci-Fi Thriller STARMAN From Josh Wakely

Brendan Fraser is gearing up for another exciting role, this time leaving Earth behind for a high-stakes journey to Mars in Starman. The upcoming sci-fi thriller comes from Emmy-winning filmmaker Josh Wakely, who wrote and will direct the project from his own original screenplay.

Fraser steps into the role of Tom Adams, a visionary technologist described as an architect of the future. He’s the kind of guy pushing humanity toward its next giant leap, leading a groundbreaking mission to Mars. But things don’t go according to plan.

Once he’s millions of miles away from Earth, the mission spirals into something far more intense than anyone expected. What starts as a historic expedition quickly turns into a race against time, fueled not just by survival, but by something much more personal… love.

That emotional hook adds an interesting layer to what could have been a straightforward space survival story. Fraser has proven he can bring depth and heart to complex characters, and this setup feels like it’ll give him plenty to work with.

The film is being developed under Grace: A Storytelling Company, with Wakely producing alongside Rebecca Graham. Eddie Vaisman of Sight Unseen, who recently worked with Fraser on Rental Family, is also producing.

On the executive producing side, David S. Goyer is involved. His credits include Batman Begins and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, so he knows his way around large-scale storytelling.

Production on Starman is set to kick off this summer. Between Fraser’s continued career resurgence and a story that blends sci-fi spectacle with emotional stakes, this one feels like it could be a cool movie going experience.
