Brendan Fraser is a 600-Pound Man in First Look at Darren Aronofsky's THE WHALE
A24 has released our first look at Brendan Fraser as a 600-pound man in the upcoming Darren Aronofsky film The Whale. In the film, Fraser plays a struggling obese man who is looking to reconnect with his 17-year-old daughter.
This is Aronofsky’s first film as a director since he made Mother!. The movie also stars Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, Hong Chau, Samantha Morton (The Walking Dead) and Ty Simpkins (Insidious, Iron Man 3).
The project is based on Samuel D. Hunter‘s critically-acclaimed 2012 play of the same name. It tells the story of a reclusive English teacher suffering from severe obesity. The six-hundred-pound recluse is hiding away from the world and slowly eating himself to death. He is given one last chance at redemption as he attempts to reconnect with his estranged teenage daughter for one last chance at redemption.
When previously talking about the project, Fraser said: “It’s gonna be like something you haven’t seen before. That’s really all I can tell you…The wardrobe and costume was extensive, seamless, cumbersome. This is certainly far removed from anything I’ve ever done but not to be coy…I do know it’s going to make a lasting impression.”
Fraser has been getting a lot of love from the fans in recent years and he’s been on a big comeback journey as an actor. It’s great to see him landing all of these great acting jobs, and there’s no doubt that he’ll deliver an impressive performance in The Whale.
