Brendan Gleeson Is Donald Trump in Teaser and New Photos for Showtime's THE COMEY RULE

We’ve got a new look at Showtime’s upcoming limited series The Comey Rule, which is an adaptation of former FBI director James Comey’s book, A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership.

The story follows Russia’s participation and alleged manipulation of the election process, as well as the investigation into Trump’s presidency after evidence pointed to collusion between his campaign and Russian politicians.

Today a new teaser trailer has been released for the series that you can watch below. We’ve also got some new photos to share with you featuring Brendan Gleeson as Donald Trump, Jennifer Ehle (Zero Dark Thirty), Holly Hunter (Raising Arizona, The Big Sick), and more.

Based on Comey's No. 1 New York Times bestselling book A Higher Loyalty and more than a year of additional interviews with a number of key principals, THE CO...

The two-part series comes from writer and director Billy Ray (Shattered GlassRichard Jewell), and when talking about the story with Vanity Fair regarding what Comey was thinking when he reopened the investigation saying:

“We will show you what he was thinking, moment to moment. One of the options, to do nothing, is a decision, but it’s not an option for him. As a dramatic character, basic story structure, you want to put your hero between a rock and a hard place, write the hero into a corner, and then he has to overcome the obstacles to come out of it, one way or another. And Comey, what he went through was a rock and hard place.”

It’s going to be really interesting to see how this series does and the kind of conversation and debates that it’s going to spark. I’m curious to see how these events are portrayed in the series, but like all Hollywood projects, there’s sure to be a lot of embellishment.

One thing that I have to say, though, is that it’s crazy how much Brenden Gleeson looks like Donald Trump! He even sounds just like him in the teaser trailer!

The Comey Rule airs on Showtime over two nights, starting on September 27, 2020.
