Brian Cox and Jodie Turner-Smith Star in Trailer for Peacock Political Thriller THE INDEPENDENT

A new trailer has been released for the political thriller The Independent that is headed to Peacock. The trailer features Brian Cox (Troy, Succession) and Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen and Slim, White Noise), who play reporters who discover information about a presidential candidate (played by John Cena) that could change everything. Ann Dowd (The Handmaid's Tale) plays the presidential opponent in the story.

The movie was directed by Amy Rice, who directed the documentaries By the People: The Election of Barack Obama, and Broadway Rising, and the script was written by Evan Parter.

Here’s the full synopsis:

“In The Independent, it's the final weeks of the most consequential presidential election in history. America is poised to elect either its first female president (Dowd) or its first viable independent candidate (Cena). Reporting history as it's made, an idealistic young journalist (Turner-Smith) teams up with her idol, legendary journalist Nick Booker (Cox), to uncover a conspiracy that places the fate of the election, and the country, in their hands.”

This looks like a really good movie with a lot of talented people involved. Check out the trailer below, and watch The Independent on Peacock on November 2nd.
