Brian Michael Bendis Leaves Marvel Comics For DC Comics - Marvel and DC Release Statements

In a surprising announcement, long time Marvel Comics writer Brian Michael Bendis is leaving Marvel Comics behind him as he exclusively signs up with DC Comics.

This is crazy! I honestly never thought Bendis would leave Marvel because he's done so much great stuff for Marvel over the years and he's pretty much defined Marvel Comics over the past 15 years.

DC made the announcesment with the following statement:

Bendis went on to comment on the big change saying:

Marvel then offered the following statement to ComicBook.com:

“Brian is a great partner and has contributed incredible stories and characters to the Marvel Universe over the years. We appreciate his creativity and professionalism, and we wish him the best on his future projects.”

Since Bendis has been with Marvel, he's reimagined Spider-Man for a new generation with Ultimate Spider-Man. He's the creator of Jessica Jones in the comic series Alias, and wrote an incredible run on Daredevil. He also worked on Avengers Disassembled, New Avengers, X-Men, Iron Man, The Defenders, and more.

It's going to be weird that we won't see any more Marvel stories from him, but I'm excited to see what he ends up doing with DC Comics as he plays in their universe.
