Test Footage From BLACK PANTHER Shows Dominique Thorne Auditioning to Play Shuri Alongside Chadwick Boseman
A brief video was released from way back before the first Black Panther movie was made. Chadwick Boseman was already secured in the role of King T’Challa/Black Panther, but the filmmakers were still running auditions and screen tests to find the perfect little sister, Shuri. Letitia Wright ended up in the role, perfectly cast, but one actress who was also in the running for the part was Dominique Thorne.
She didn’t get the part of Shuri, but she had such a good audition that the powers that be over at Marvel remembered her, and she landed the part of Riri Williams/Ironheart, who we first saw in last year’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and we will see later this year in her own series, Ironheart. She will also go on to play the role in Avengers: Secret Wars in 2026.
Twitter User @UpToTASK released this short footage below, and it’s cool to see Dominique share the screen with Chadwick, even if for just a short time. Boseman’s shirt is giving me all the feels in this clip. I so wish he were still around to be our Black Panther.
