Britney Spears Was Almost Cast in the Lead Role in THE NOTEBOOK but She Says She Was Relieved Not to Get it

Singer Britney Spears is best known for her hit albums over the last couple of decades, but she also starred in a couple of movies and guest starred on a few shows over the years. Her acting career almost took a bigger turn in 2004, as she was almost cast in the lead role of Allie in The Notebook. The role went on to be played by Rachel McAdams, and the film became an instant classic. So it seems like Spears could have remorse over not landing the part, but it turns out, she only feels relief.

In Britney Spears’ recently released tell-all memoir, The Woman in Me (via People), the pop star explained:

“That was pretty much the beginning and end of my acting career, and I was relieved. The Notebook casting came down to me and Rachel McAdams, and even though it would have been fun to reconnect with Ryan Gosling after our time on the Mickey Mouse Club, I’m glad I didn’t do it. If I had, instead of working on my album In the Zone I’d have been acting like a 1940s heiress day and night.”

Spears is a good singer and dancer, but not the best actress, so I am also happy that McAdams was chosen instead because I really like The Notebook. Can you imagine Spears in the role?
