Bruce Campbell Explains the Reason Why He's So Ripped in the Poster for ARMY OF DARKNESS

Have you’ve ever wondered why Bruce Campbell’s Ash is shown as being muscular and completely ripped in the international poster for Sam Raimi’s Army of Darkness? As you know, Campbell doesn’t look like that at all in the movie. The poster art paints him in a totally different light than how he appears in any of the Evil Dead films, and it turns out there’s a silly and amusing reason for the ripped body job.

It looks more like the body of Arnold Schwarzenegger, and according to Campbell, that was the actual intention! He explained on Twitter in response to fan sharing the poster:

"Yeah, producer Dino De Laurentiis had his hands all over that. It’s the foreign poster. He knew that Schwarzenegger sold overseas, so he made me look like Arnold. It’s very silly."

The late Dino De Laurentiis actually produced Conan the Barbarian and its sequel years before Army of Darkness, so it makes sense that he would use his marketing tactic. Did it work? Not really. The movie only made $10 million at the domestic box office and $11 million internationally.

I hate that this movie bombed at the box office because it was a great movie!
