Bruce Timm Was Initially Asked to Revive BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES and He Said "Nah"

Before Batman: Caped Crusader became a thing, Bruce Timm revealed that he was initially asked to revive Batman: The Animated Series, but turned down the opportunity.

Timm and Eric Radomski created the original series, which has become one of the greatest animated projects to ever be developed. The series was produced by Warner Bros. Animation, and it ran for 85 episodes.

While speaking with The Wrap, Timm shared that four or five years ago, Warner Bros. asked him if he’d be willing to make more episodes of Batman: The Animated Series, but it’s something that he just wasn’t interested in doing.

Timm explained, “They said, ‘Hey, how would you feel about going back and making some more Batman: The Animated Series episodes?’ And I’m like, ‘Nah, we’d been there, we’d done that.’ I wasn’t interested in just revisiting that world.”

I understand that, but as a fan of Batman: The Animated Series, it sure would’ve been exciting to see! Yeah, we do have a new Batman series from Timm as he was eventually drawn back to the world of Gotham with Batman: Caped Crusader.

The series centers on a younger version of Bruce Wayne during the earlier days of his crime-fighting.

Timm said: “The more we started talking about it, it was like, ‘Okay, that’s interesting. That’s interesting.’ And then we got really excited about it.”

The series is currently available on Prime Video, and while it’s good, and it’s cool to have another Batman series to watch, it’s not as good as Batman: The Animated Series.
