BRUTE 1986 Trailer Unleashes Bloody 1980s Slasher Mayhem on a Glam Metal Band
The '80s are back, and they're bringing some seriously nasty kills with them! The official trailer for Brute 1986 has arrived, giving horror fans a taste of the brutal carnage awaiting a glam metal band that makes the unfortunate decision to film a music video in the middle of nowhere.
Following the blood-soaked Brute 1976, director Marcel Walz (Blood Feast, Blind) is taking the franchise into the era of big hair, loud music, and creative slasher kills. This time, he's drawing inspiration from the classic horror movies of the 1980s, and the results look like a nasty good time.
The story follows Leather Kobra, a glam metal band that heads into the desert with its crew to shoot a music video in an abandoned Western town. The group ignores the posted no-trespassing signs, which turns out to be a spectacularly bad decision.
The town isn't nearly as deserted as it looks. A sadistic group of killers known as the Birdy family has made the place its home, and they aren't interested in entertaining visitors.
The official synopsis reads: “A glam metal band and their crew venture to an abandoned desert town to film a music video. Unbeknownst to them, a deranged family of violent misfits lives there, and they don’t take well to uninvited visitors. As they begin killing off their unwanted guests, the band, unable to escape, plots revenge.”
Rather than simply becoming another group of helpless victims, the surviving band members decide to fight back. Of course, they're going up against a family that has turned murder into a particularly gruesome art form.
The film stars Gigi Gustin (Night of the Missing), Sarah French (Blind), Pancho Moler (3 From Hell), Lew Temple (The Devil's Rejects), and Heather Grace Hancock (Wicked City).
The screenplay comes from Joe Knetter, whose previous credits include Brute 1976, Blind, and Twilight of the Dead. Walz shared his enthusiasm for the project with Bloody Disgusting, explaining how his favorite slashers influenced the sequel:
“The whole team and I had so much fun on this movie,” director Marcel Walz tells Bloody Disgusting. “I’m a huge fan of the slasher genre, especially Friday the 13th Part 6, The Burning, Halloween, Sleepaway Camp, and many more. That being said, we also knew we can’t make a pure ’80s horror, but we transferred our love of those movies to the screen.”
With its glam metal soundtrack potential, isolated desert location, twisted killers, and revenge-driven story, Brute 1986 looks ready to deliver some wonderfully trashy old-school slasher entertainment.
Brute 1986 is coming from Cinephobia Releasing, with an official release date yet to be announced.
