Bryan Cranston Joins Sam Rockwell in Disney's THE ONE AND ONLY IVAN
Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) has jumped on board an upcoming Disney film project called The One and Only Ivan. He joins Angelina Jolie and Sam Rockwell in the live-action animation hybrid film.
The movie is an adaptation of the Newbery Medal-winning illustrated book by Katherine Applegate. It was inspired by the true story of a captive silverback gorilla named Ivan (Rockwell) and is told from his point-of-view.
Ivan lives in a cage in a shopping mall along with an elephant named Stella (Jolie) and a stray dog called Bob. He has been in this enclosure for 27 years. "Ivan does not remember life before the mall, but when a baby elephant named Ruby enters and Ivan finds himself taking care of her, he begins to rediscover his previous life and concocts a plan to take the baby elephant away from their abusive owner."
According to THR, Cranston will play the desperate owner of a failing circus who abuses his animals as he forces them to act for customers. So if you want to watch Bryan Cranston abuse animals, this is the movie for you! I don't think anyone wants to watch Cranston abuse any animals though!
The movie is being directed by Thea Sharrock (Me Before You) from a script by Mike White (School of Rock). The movie also stars Brooklynn Prince (The Florida Project) and Ariana Greenblatt (Stuck in the Middle).
Jolie is a producer on the film alongside Brigham Taylor (The Jungle Book) and the late Allison Shearmur who will retain a producer credit.
