Bryan Cranston Keeps Turning Down Offers to Join INVINICIBLE and It's Now a Running Joke
If there’s one thing Invincible creator Robert Kirkman can count on, it’s Bryan Cranston turning down his animated show. Apparently, every season, Kirkman and his team extend an offer to the Breaking Bad star, and every time they ask, Cranston politely declines.
While speaking with Discussing Film, Kirkman explained: "Sometimes an actor is brought up for a role, and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, never in a million years would have I thought of that.’ That’s when it’s really exciting.
“As far as dream casting goes, I think we offer Bryan Cranston a role every season. That has become our tradition, and his tradition is that he turns us down (laughs).
“But we’re coming for you again, Bryan, and we’ll see what happens next time. Fingers crossed! Literally, Bryan Cranston is the only actor that has turned us down."
That’s pretty hilarious! I wonder why Cranston keeps turning them down. He’d make a perfect addition to the series! So, I’m glad that they keep trying in hopes that one day he’ll say yes.
Meanwhile, Invincible Season 3 is off to a roaring start on Prime Video, earning a flawless Rotten Tomatoes score. Critics are loving it, with one review calling it “a supercharged, streamlined approach to Mark’s changing power dynamics – and the challenges he fights to overcome in his blue suit era.”
And while Cranston may not be suiting up anytime soon, the show is already looking ahead. Invincible season 4 is in the works, with J.K. Simmons (Omni-Man himself) confirming his involvement: "Yeah, we actually have dipped our toes. Or at least I have into the next season. And I’m looking forward to... I don’t know when in the next coming months, but looking forward to getting back in the studio again."
So, will season 4 be the one where Kirkman finally wins over Cranston? Or is this just part of the Invincible tradition now? Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
