Bryce Dallas Howard Gives Disappointing Update on Her WITCH MOUNTAIN Series

Two years ago, Disney+ announced that they’d ordered a pilot for a new supernatural series titled Witch Mountain, a reimagining of Disney’s successful film franchise. The stories in the films and series are based on the 1968 Alexander Key novel Escape to Witch Mountain.

The show was described as “a modern reinvention of the cult classic that takes place in the shadow of ‘Witch Mountain,’ following two teens that develop strange abilities and discover their sleepy suburb may not be as idyllic as it seems.”

Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World) had the starring role in the show, and was cast alongside Isabel Gravitt (The Watcher), Levi Miller (Streamline), Bianca “b” Norwood (We Crashed), and Jackson Kelly (Straight Man).

The show’s pilot was even filmed, but Howard has some unfortunate news about the show that doesn’t look like it will ever see the light of day.

Collider reported that Howard revealed the news during a panel at Fan Expo Canada in Toronto. She was asked about the series, and she explained:

"It's not happening, which is disappointing. It was a really great groove, and we really all enjoyed shooting it here in Toronto. Some things make it, and some things don't, and that's the unfortunate truth of this industry."

The series was to star Howard as Audrey, whose teen daughter Tia (Isabel Gravitt) begins exhibiting strange mental abilities.

It’s too bad this isn’t moving forward, especially with the first episode already having been filmed. I loved those movies when I was a kid! They told an interesting story that still has some life to it.
