BUMBLEBEE Director Travis Knight Is Set to Direct Sony's UNCHARTED Movie with Tom Holland
I’ve made it very clear that I don’t really care for the direction that Sony Pictures is taking the Uncharted movie. Tom Holland is set to play a young version of Nathan Drake, and it will be “an origin story that evolves out of the game but is not from the game." It will follow the character as he grows into the treasure hunter that we all love from the game.
But, I’m also a huge fan of director Travis Knight, who helmed the film Kubo and the Two Strings and the recent Bumblebee. The guy is a talented director who knows how to tell a great story, and Sony has just hired him to direct Uncharted.
Knight will replace Dan Trachtenberg, who recently stepped away from the project due to creative differences. I have really been that excited about this movie, but now, with Knight on board, there’s a chance that this could actually end up being a decent film.
I just wish Knight was directing an Uncharted film that deals with an older and seasoned version of Nathan Drake! The version from the game! That’s what the fans want to see. It’s just hard to imagine Holland growing into that gritty, badass, manly character.
The script for the film was written by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Rafe Judkins. The movie will go into production early next year, and it will be released on December 18th, 2020.
What do you think about Travis Knight directing Uncharted?
