Bumblebee Embarks on a MEMENTO-Like Journey in The New 80s-Inspired TRANSFORMERS: CYBERVERSE Series
There's a new Transformers animated series coming out for Cartoon Network called Transformers: Cyberverse, and it actually looks like it could be good! The designs for the series were inspired by the classic 80s cartoon series and the plot of the show kinda sounds like Christopher Nolan's Memento! Here is a description of the story which focuses on a new Bumblebee adventure:
Bumblebee is on a critical mission, but his memory chips are damaged and he has to recover details of his past experiences on Cybertron.
Only by uncovering his actions on his mechanical homeworld can he figure out what his purpose is on Earth. Meanwhile, the Decepticons are also closing in on him.
When talking about the visual designs of the show, Tom Warner, Senior VP for the Transformers franchise at Hasbro had this to say:
"When we were designing the look and feel of Transformers: Cyberverse, we were inspired by the classic clean appearance of the original G1-style. This was the design we initially fell in love with in the ‘80s and it felt like the perfect fit for this new origin story."
The show stars Jeremy Levy as the voice of Bumblebee, Jake Tillman as Optimus Prime, Ryan Andes voices the dinobot Grimlock and Shockwave, Sophia Isabella is Windblade, who is helping Bumblebee unlock his damaged memory bank. Then there's Marc Thompson who will voice Megatron, Billy Bob Thompson is Starscream, and Deanna McGovern is Shadowstriker.
Fans catch an early preview of Episode 1 on the Cartoon Networks app starting Monday, August 27th, with new episodes every Friday. The series will also be available via VOD and broadcast on September 1st.
