BY THE SEA Trailer: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Pitt Get Volatile
It seems Angelina Jolie is going by a new name these days: Angelina Jolie Pitt. She and husband Brad Pitt star in By the Sea, a new film that Angelina also wrote and directed. The first trailer has debuted on Apple, and it's a somber-looking movie that features the two superstars as a married couple who head to a seaside town in an effort to save their marriage. Things get surprisingly volatile about halfway through as the tension ramps up and the couple begins to sort through their issues, and this looks like a pretty powerful drama that will certainly earn these two paparazzi favorites a lot of extra attention. It's the kind of project that makes me think Jolie Pitt wrote it specifically so people would take them seriously as actors instead of just seeing them as Hollywood royalty, and if the trailer is any indication, it looks like she's accomplished that mission.
By the Sea follows an American writer named Roland (Pitt) and his wife, Vanessa (Jolie Pitt), who arrive in a tranquil and picturesque seaside resort in 1970s France, their marriage in apparent crisis. As they spend time with fellow travelers, including young newlyweds Lea (Laurent) and François (Poupaud) and village locals Michel (Arestrup) and Patrice (Bohringer), the couple begins to come to terms with unresolved issues in their own lives.
