CALL OF DUTY is Streamlining Progress on All Three of Its Current Titles

Activision is getting ready to launch Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on November 13 and with it, there are going to be some changes for Call of Duty. The team has been working on creating a more unified experience it seems between Black Ops Cold War, Modern Warfare, and Warzone. You can find all the details on the COD blog, but here’s the skinny.

After completing the traditional leveling system of Military Ranks in Black Ops Cold War, players will begin a new Season Leveling system that will start with the Pre-Season and become synchronized across all three games when Season One starts on December 10. This means that players will level up and gain XP across all three games which means you don’t need to play a specific game to level up anymore. Feels much more streamlined. As a note, that your rank and XP in all three games will be reset once synchronized when Season One begins. However, you will not lose anything you’ve unlocked such as weapons and perks.

Speaking of weapons, those are also becoming synchronized to an extent. Starting with Season One, every weapon in Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War will become accessible in Warzone. You can then level the weapons up in the game they originate from as well as in Warzone to make things extra nice.

Another addition to Warzone will be the ability to take any Operator you’ve unlocked from either Modern Warfare or Black Ops Cold War into Warzone. This includes any skins as well. There is one small exception though. Marine Corps Master Sergeant Frank Woods has a skin that is only available in Modern Warfare and Warzone.

If you like the Battle Pass system, good news is coming your way. Players will be able to progress through Battle Pass by playing any of the three games with content unlocking in-game no matter which one you’re playing.

Finally, the games support cross-play across current and next-gen consoles as well as PC, cross-progression, and even cross-title play. Cross-Title play allows a group to play together no matter which game they have:

No matter what game you are playing – or the platform you’re playing it on – access and invite your friends to join you. Cross-Title Invites allow you to invite your friends who are playing Modern Warfare or Warzone to join you in Black Ops Cold War, and vice versa, with the party leader navigating to the title everyone wishes to play. The result is more flexibility and ease in gathering your friends for a Multiplayer match, Zombies experience (in Black Ops Cold War), or drop into Verdansk.

Are you excited for this more streamlined approach?
