Canceled EA STAR WARS Game Was Going To Basically Be "Star Wars Uncharted"
Former EA Visceral producer Zach Mumbach recently shed a little light on the canceled Star Wars game that EA was working on. The game was codenamed Project Ragtag and it was under the direction of Uncharted's Amy Hennig.
While appearing on a new episode of the MinnMaxShow (via Eurogamer), Mumbach opened up a little bit about the Star Wars game revealing that there was "a lot of gameplay people never got to see.” The story would have also have focused on a central character described as a blend of Star-Lord and Robin Hood. Mumbach went on to say:
"We had levels, they weren't done but they were close. We had one set-piece which was basically done - we were putting the final touches on it right when the studio was shut down."
He then goes on to describe a cool moment from the game and described it as being like Star Wars Uncharted:
"[It was] this crazy AT-ST moment which was really cool. You were on foot running from it and it was trying to hunt you down but you were more agile, slipping through these alleyways, barelling through and crashing and using all the destruction of Frostbite... You would have been like 'oh that's like Star Wars Uncharted'."
Sounds like a fun game that fans might have enjoyed. But, EA felt that there was a lack of profitability for single-player experiences at the time, so they pulled it. That theory ended up being disproven a couple of years later with the release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which has become the best selling Star Wars game of all time.
