Captain America and Sharon Carter's Relationship Was Explored in an Early Draft of The AVENGERS: ENDGAME Script

In Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, fans got to see the potential start of a relationship between Chris Evans’s Steve Rogers and Emily VanCamp’s Sharon Carter, who happens to be Peggy Carter’s great-niece. Then Sharon is nowhere to be seen in Avengers: Infinity War or Avengers: Endgame.

This is understandable because there was a lot to pack into those two films as it were, and it’d be hard to fit much more in there. Well, the writers of the two films, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, recently talked to Yahoo about an idea they had to incorporate her, but that idea was ultimately scrapped.

We tried to sew up all sorts of things; we had first drafts where Steve was living with Sharon Carter, and it wasn’t going very well.

I can completely understand why the scenes were cut and after the weird revelation that Steve is really Sharon’s great-uncle, it has made some fans feel rather awkward about the relationship. Do you wish we had seen more Steve and Sharon or are you glad that it ended up being cut? You can hear more about it in the video below starting around the 29-minute mark.

'Avengers: Endgame' screenwriters Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus talk about time travel, sub-plots that didn't make it into the movie and major changes made along the way with Yahoo Entertainment's Kevin Polowy (@djkevlar). This extended interview also includes conversation about Hawkeye's big switch to Natalie Portman's lost scene.
