CAPTAIN MARVEL Adds Gemma Chan in the Role of Minn-Erva
Another character has been revealed for Marvel's upcoming Captain Marvel movie! That character is a Kree geneticist and spy named Minn-Erva who takes on the human alias of Doctor Minerva, and she will be played by Humans star Gemma Chan.
Minn-Erva has similar powers to Carol Danvers. She was mutagenically altered by the Kree Psyche-Magnetron, giving her superhuman strength and durability and the power of flight through the conscious manipulation of gravitons. She is also said to possess heightened intuitive faculties giving her the ability to guess correctly significantly higher than chance.
There are no details on how exactly she will be utilized in the story, but Chan will join the previously cast Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Ben Mendelsohn as the villain, and Jude Law as Doctor Walter Lawson, a.k.a. Mar-Vell.
The story is set in the early 1990s and the Skrulls will play a big part of the story. That story centers on Danvers, an Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an alien during an accident, the resulting alteration imbued her with the superpowers of strength, energy projection and flight.
Captain Marvel is being directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Mississippi Grind) and it's set to be released on March 8th, 2019.
