CAPTAIN MARVEL Sequel is Rumored To Include Ms. Marvel and Adapt The Secret Invasion Storyline
An interesting rumor has surfaced regarding what we might end up seeing in Captain Marvel 2. According to MCU Direct, on top of seeing Captain Marvel back in action, Ms. Marvel is also said to be appearing in the sequel.
The report goes on to say Ms. Marvel will have a supporting role in the film, and that it will “also include many important MCU characters”, with the film being described as a "mini-Avengers film." There’s a Ms. Marvel series in development with Disney+, so we know that Marvel has plans for the character. It wouldn’t be hard to incorporate her into a Captain Marvel movie.
It is also reported that it will adapt the Secret Invasion comic book storyline, which was previously rumored. We have yet to see Marvel Studio do a direct adaptation of anything from the comics, so when they say adapt, it means that if this is the case, Marvel will pull elements from that storyline and then build on it to make it fit in with what they are doing with the MCU.
If this is the case, then we’ll probably see Carol Danvers come back to Earth to help fight against the Skrull invasion. Elements of the Secret Invasion story has been teased in the MCU, so it’s not too far-fetched to think that this story will get told in some way at some point.
Captain Marvel 2 is being written by Megan McDonnell, who is part of the writing team for the upcoming Disney+ MCU series, WandaVision. The original film was written by directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck along with Geneva Robertson-Dworet. There’s no word on if Boden and Fleck will return to direct the film.
