Carl Weathers, who stars in and directs Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian, has confirmed on Twitter that Season 3 has started production. Weathers will be reprising his role as Greef Karga and is also going to be directing another episode.

The series was initially supposed to start shooting in April at the Lucasfilm’s Volume stages in Los Angeles, but they were being used for the production of the Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi series, which recently wrapped production in September.

The Mandalorian is being developed by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, with Favreau also set as the showrunner and one of its directors. It is being led by Pedro Pascal as the lone Mandalorian warrior.

The story will continue Din Djarin journey without Grogu. It seems like from this point the story is going to heavily involve his future with Mandalore now that he wields the Darksaber. I’m also excited about seeing how the story plays out between Din Djarin and Bo-Katan. Whatever the story ends up being, I’m confident that it’s going to be great!

When previously talking about the third season of series on the Star Wars Sessions podcast, stuntman Brendan Wayne shared the following:

"I think we've introduced the world in which Mando exists now. Not that there aren't going to be new things, I'm sure... I think there will be a lot less introductions, and a lot more going back towards the first season of delving deeper into the character and things like that I think. Have I read one script? No. Have I heard some things? Sure. So I'm guessing. But I can tell you this. If anyone's going to be able to continue telling a story, it's Jon [Favreau]. And raising the stakes? It's Jon."

The Mandalorian Season 3 is currently slated to make its return sometime next year, following the debut of its first spin-off The Book of Boba Fett which is set to premiere on December 29.
