Carl Weathers Discusses His MANDALORIAN Character Greef Carga and Says He Will Be Explored More in Season 2
The first season of The Mandalorian is having a lot of success as Star Wars fans are loving the hell out of it! As Jon Favreau is hard at work producing Season 2 of the series, and there’s a fan-favorite character who will be explored a little more in the second season. That character is Carl Weathers’s Greef Carga.
While talking with Game Radar’s sister site SFX, Weathers talked about his character in the series, who is the leader of the bounty hunting guild during this time in the Star Wars universe, and teased that his story will continue:
“I think [Greef’s backstory] is more saved for season two. But you get some glimpses at Greef and who he is through the stories in the first season. There’s some real strong indications that give you some idea of who he is. But we never let on completely. It’s much more interesting to play someone who is not all of one thing – not one-dimensional. Also, it opens it up to stories later on that can reveal much more about this character. Certainly with Greef, you have to really keep your eye on him.”
As we’ve seen in the series, Carga is very loyal to the rules of the bounty hunting guild and getting a job done. While he seems to like the Mandalorian, he’s the guy that will turn on him if he steps out of line, which he did when he took The Child under his care. I wonder if Carga knows more about The Child than he’s letting on.
With three episodes left in the series, there’s a chance that we’ll see Greef Carga again in Season 1, but if not… we know he’ll be back, so that’s good!
