It looks like Carnage is going to have some different kinds of weaponized powers in director Andy SerkisVenom: Let There Be Carnage that we haven’t seen before in the comics. The creative team behind the film gave him some new additional powers for the film and they are actually pretty interesting and deadly.

The Carnage symbiote turns its flesh into something comparable to barbed wire filled with razors. Venom VFX supervisor Sheena Duggal offered the following details in the production notes:

“His arms and legs have the same priority as his other tentacles. He’s like the Vitruvian Man. Ultimately it's like fighting a creature who is made of barbed wire and like a bramble bush – he's so vicious and weaponized and powerful and dangerous. Even if he just swipes you with a tentacle, he's all covered in razors and barbs, you're just going to stick to him and be torn to shreds.”

He goes on to explain that throughout the course of the film, Carnage will evolve and adapt to the various issues at hand with Venom. He will have the ability to form different weapons and symbiotic appendages:

“One of the ideas we had for Carnage was that he would evolve throughout the film and grow his own weapons. As he becomes more and more powerful, he propagates more and more weapons, more barbed and dangerous, and his human form becomes less and less apparent. He can grow a spear from his spine, then pull it out and use it like a javelin, and it just grows back. He can grow other weapons, or eject them as projectiles.”

I actually kinda like the concept and I think it will be interesting to see in the movie!

Venom: Let There Be Carnage sees the return of Tom Hardy as the lethal protector Venom, one of Marvel’s most complex characters. He will be joined by Michelle Williams, Reid Scott, and Peggy Lu. It will also feature Woody Harrelson as the maniacal serial killer Cletus Kasady/Carnage, Naomie Harris as Frances Barrison/Shriek, and Stephen Graham as Detective Mulligan.

The movie will be released on October 1st.
