Carrie Fisher’s Slave Leia Costume Sells for $96,000

Last week we learned that the Princess Leia slave costume that Carrie Fisher wore in Return of the Jedi would be going up for auction along with several other items from the original Star Wars films.

The outfit was expected to sell between $80,000 to $120,000, and in the end it sold for $96,000. The iconic outfit also came complete with its collar and chain links. It also came with a letter of authenticity from designer Richard Miller, who worked for George Lucas' Industrial Light and Magic.

The Slave Leia costume was one of the most highly anticipated articles in the "Profiles of History" online auction, and one lucky fan and collector with a lot of money managed to win the bid.

The highest selling item at the auction, though, was a miniature model of Princess Leia's "Blockade Runner" ship. That was the first ship that we saw in the Star Wars Universe in the opening scene of A New Hope. It sold for $450,000, which was more than double its opening bid.
