Casey Affleck is Set To Star in a Horror TV Series For Director Alfonso Cuarón
Oscar-winning director Alfonso Cuarón (Gravity) is teaming up with Oscar-winner Casey Affleck (Manchester By The Sea) to develop a horror-themed TV series. Affleck will star in the series and Cuarón is set to write, produce, and direct it.
TV has become such a powerful place to tell stories these days. A lot of the shows that I'm seeing on TV are better than what I'm seeing in the movie theaters. It has become so powerful that even Oscar winners like these two guys, who I never thought would get into TV, are now jumping into the TV action.
There aren't many details about the series, all that Deadline reveals is that "it is a horror genre series that tracks the origins of a cult."
Cults have always made for an interesting subject matter, and I'm curious to learn what exactly this new series will entail. Will it be based on a real-life cult? Or will it be based on a fictional one created for the series? We'll just have to wait and see!
Affleck has two film projects in development. One is called Old Man and the Gun, which also stars Robert Redford. The other is Light of My Life, which he wrote and directed. Cuarón is currently working on his next film, Roma, which is slated for release next year.
Are you excited to see these two talents come together for a horror series?
