Casey Affleck Says Ben Affleck Won't Star in THE BATMAN, But Ben Said He Would, So... You Know
Casey Affleck recently was a guest on WEEI Sports Radio and while on the show he was asked what he thought about Ben Affleck's performance as Batman. He jokingly says:
"I thought he was an okay Batman. No, I thought he was great. He was great. He’s a hero, so he had something to channel and work with there."
He then added a comment that got the internet all stirred up and everyone started freaking out that Ben wouldn't be back as Batman. He said:
"But he’s not going to do that movie, I don’t think. Sorry to say."
Yeah, I can see that comment causing a bit of a stir, but then after the radio hosts inform him this is breaking news, Casey backtracks on his comment saying:
“Is that breaking news? Because I was just kind of making that up, I don’t know.”
I personally think Casey was just in a joking mood and maybe doing a little trolling for fun. Ben Affleck confirmed at Comic-Con in July that he is going to be a part of The Batman and that he was excited about it. He said:
"I am the luckiest guy in the world. Batman is the coolest part in any universe, Marvel DC, anything–I’m so thrilled to do it. Its fucking amazing. I still can’t believe it. Everyone at the studio tells me I’m their Batman and I believe it. And Matt Reeves? I’d be an ape on the ground for Matt Reeves. I'm blown away and its an exciting time in the DC Universe. I’m excited to be Batman."
That doesn't sound like a man who will be leaving the role of Batman anytime soon. As you've heard, director Matt Reeves is planning a trilogy of Batman films and if that happens, at this point, Ben Affleck is on board to be a part of it.
In the end, Ben probably knows better what he's doing than his brother, Casey. You can listen to Casey make the comments in the video below. They start around the 6:30 mark.
