CASTLEVANIA Series Creator Adi Shankar Wants to Make a G.I. JOE/TRANSFORMERS Crossover Movie
Adi Shankar, the creator and producer of Netflix's Castlevania anime series, has another crazy idea that he’d like to develop. He wants to make a G.I. Joe/Transformers crossover movie, which I think a lot of fans would love to see.
Shankar recently launched a new series on Netflix with The Guardians of Justice on Netflix, which isn’t really that good. But in the past, he started that whole Bootleg Universe thing in which he made bootleg short films for The Punisher, Venom, Power Rangers, and more.
Now he wants to bring his unique vision to G.I. Joe and Transformers. During a recent interview with ComicBook, the producer was asked about doing something with an already existing IP and this was what he said:
"Okay. Yeah. So literally G.I. Joe is the one. It's the one. G.I. Joe is the one. I'd want to cross it over with Transformers. But yeah, G.I. Joe is the one. I have a whole kind of concept for it, as well... It's more technicolor, I'll put it that way. It's a more technicolor take on G.I. Joe."
I’d be curious to see what Shankar would do with these properties and creating a crossover. It’s been done in the past in the comic, but it’d be interesting to see what it would be like if it was brought to life as an animated series or film.
His comment about doing the project in "technicolor" is also an interesting concept and could prove to a visually cool way to present the story. With all the things going on with the G.I. Joe and Transformers franchises right now, I’m not sure if Hasbro would give him the opportunity. But, never say never.
