Catherine Zeta-Jones has been cast in the role of Morticia Addams in Tim Burton’s upcoming Netflix series Wednesday, which is based on the classic Addams Family franchise. She joins the previously cast Jenna Ortega and Luis Guzmán, who will play Wednesday and Gomez Addams.

This is a coming-of-age comedy series about “a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.”

The eight-episode series was written by Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar, and Burton will direct. All three of them will also serve as showrunners on the series and executive produce.

Zeta-Jones is an unexpected, but great choice for the role! There’s no doubt she’s going to bring us a wonderful new version of Morticia! I’m excited to see what she ends up doing with the character. What do you think about the casting choice?
