CBS All Access is Considering a STAR TREK: DISCOVERY Spinoff Series Focusing on Spock and Pike
It looks like CBS All Access is considering another Star Trek series! During its Television Critics Association presentation, head of original content, Julie McNamara, took some questions about the future possibilities for new Star Trek shows and that’s when she revealed that a Star Trek: Discovery spinoff series focusing on Pike (Anson Mount) and Spock (Ethan Peck) might be in the cards.
With Season 3 of Discovery being set in the far future of the Federation universe without Spock or Pike, there’s an opportunity there to play with them as they continue their separate journey, which is set 10 years prior to the original series.
During the panel, McNamara was asked if they would consider a spin-off featuring those classic Trek characters, and this was her response:
“We’ve definitely heard fans that people are excited about the notion of that. We have heard them loud and clear. We also thought there was incredible chemistry around that bridge crew so among many things that we talk about, that idea is certainly one of them.”
I would actually love to see a series focusing on Spock and Pike and it’s safe to say that fans of the series would dig it as well. The fans seemed to really enjoy the Pike and Spock relationship.
CBS All Access is currently developing a spinoff series based around Michelle Yeoh’s character Georgiou and then there’s also the Star Trek: Picard series that everyone is excited about! Producers Alex Kurtzman and Akiva Goldsman are currently developing two more live-action shows, and one of them could very well be this Pike and Spock spinoff.
