CBS Has Found Their Clarice Starling in its SILENCE OF THE LAMBS Sequel Series CLARICE

Rebecca Breeds (The Originals, Pretty Little Liars) is set to take on the role of Clarice Starling, in CBS’ upcoming Silence of the Lambs sequel crime drama pilot, Clarice. The role was previously played by Jodie Foster in the 1991 Silence of the Lambs movie, and Julianne Moore played the character in 2001’s Hannibal.

Clarice is set in 1993, a year after the events of The Silence of the Lambs. The series is “a deep dive into the untold personal story of Clarice Starling (Breeds), as she returns to the field to pursue serial murderers and sexual predators while navigating the high-stakes political world of Washington, D.C.” The report goes on to offer the following description of the character:

Brilliant and vulnerable, Clarice graduated Magna from UVA with a double major in psych and criminology. Her bravery gives her an inner light that draws monsters and madmen to her. Her complex psychological makeup comes from a challenging childhood, and her drive comes from her need to escape the burden of family secrets that have haunted her throughout her life.

I’ve always liked the character Clarice, and I think a series that focuses on her is a great idea! Hopefully, the series actually ends up being good! It is being written and executive produced by Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek: Discovery and Picard)) and Jenny Lumet (Star Trek: Discovery and Picard) so we’ll see how this turns out!

In case you were wondering, the character of Hannibal Lecter is not expected to be part of the series.
