Chairface Chippendale Could be a Possibility for the Future of THE TICK Series
I saw the first episode of the new The Tick series for Amazon sometime last year and again more recently and still can't get over how good it is. There's just one thing that bothers me. The absence of one of my favorite Tick characters, Chairface Chippendale.
Chairface Chippendale is one of The Tick's most famous villains known for having a chair where his head should be. He has all the supervillain-esqe qualities one would want in a supervillain. Charming, well-dressed, sophisticated, and a chair head. And while I have had my doubts that I'll ever see him in a live action series, Executive Producer of The Tick, David Fury, recently made some statements at Comic-Con sharing the possibilities of not only Chairface but other well-known Tick characters. When asked if we might see any other characters from the past, he was very straightforward in saying:
"Yes, you will. Right now some of those characters don’t really fit into this world, but the world–I will guarantee-it -will continue to get crazier and crazier as we go along. So who knows, Chairface Chippendale might show up down the road."
This right here brings such joy to my heart. It's not a definite yes, but at least they aren't opposed to it. Too often producers are worried about making a show too silly. They refuse to include characters from comics who just aren't real enough, or they cheekily make references to things in the comics that are silly but never allow those things to come to fruition. The Tick is willing to have a man in a giant blue tick costume and a woman who's electricity powers cause her to get covered in lint, so it gives me hope that someday, I'll see The Tick take on that suave intelligent chair-faced man.
