Channing Tatum and Director Steven Soderbergh Teaming Back Up MAGIC MIKE'S LAST DANCE

Channing Tatum and director Steven Soderbergh are getting back into the Magic Mike business! They are re-teaming for another sequel titled Magic Mike’s Last Dance. Tatum will return to the role of Mike Lane, Soderbergh will direct, and Reid Carolin is writing the script. The project is being developed for HBO Max and Tatum shared the news on Twitter and said in a statement:

“There are no words for how excited I am to blow the doors off of the world of Magic Mike with Steven, Greg, Reid, and the amazing people at HBO Max. The stripperverse will never be the same.”

Toby Emmerich, Chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group. added:

“Is there anybody on screen more charismatic and appealing than Magic Mike? We’re thrilled to be back in business with Channing, Steven and their creative team to bring back Magic Mike’s wonderful combination of dance, drama, romance and humor.”

Soderbergh went on to say:

“As soon as I saw what Channing, Reid, and the Magic Mike choreographic team did with the live show, I said, ‘We have to make another movie.’ Mike Lane’s dream of connecting people through dance must be realized.”

I’ve only seen the first Magic Mike movie; I never saw the sequel. But the whole creative team behind the franchise seems to be excited about the third film in the franchise.

As for the live show that Soderbergh is referring to, that’s the upcoming HBO Max reality competition series Finding Magic Mike, which follows 10 men who have “lost their magic” as they bare their souls and learn to perform dance routines, with one winner being awarded a cash prize and a chance to perform on the Magic Mike Live stage in Las Vegas. That series premieres on December 16th.
