Channing Tatum Hides Out in a Toys “R” Us in New Trailer for the Wild True Crime Thriller ROOFMAN
Paramount has released a final trailer for Channing Tatum’s new true crime thriller, Roofman, which looks like a wild mix of charm, tension, and unbelievable real-life weirdness.
The film is inspired by the true story of Jeffrey Manchester, a former Army Ranger and struggling father who turns to an unusual life of crime.
According to the synopsis, “Roofman follows Jeffrey Manchester (Tatum), a former Army Ranger and struggling father who turns to robbing McDonald’s restaurants by cutting holes in their roofs, earning him the nickname: Roofman.”
After a daring prison escape, Manchester takes hiding out to the next level. “After escaping prison, he secretly lives inside a Toys ‘R’ Us for six months, surviving undetected while planning his next move.
“But when he falls for Leigh (Kirsten Dunst), a divorced mom drawn to his undeniable charm, his double life begins to unravel, setting off a compelling and suspenseful game of cat and mouse as his past closes in.”
The movie also features a supporting cast that includes Peter Dinklage, Ben Mendelsohn, LaKeith Stanfield, Juno Temple, Melonie Diaz, Uzo Aduba, Lily Collias, and Jimmy O. Yang, who are all bringing their A-game to this offbeat, character-driven story.
Directed by Derek Cianfrance (The Place Beyond the Pines, Blue Valentine) from a script he co-wrote with Kirk Gunn, Roofman looks like a grounded yet strangely uplifting crime story packed with heart and tension.
Cianfrance’s knack for deeply human drama should make this story more than just another heist movie. It’s about desperation, connection, and the bizarre places people end up when life backs them into a corner.
Roofman hits theaters on October 10, and this trailer promises a gripping, funny, and surprisingly emotional ride.
