Channing Tatum Promises Different Take on GAMBIT

It's no secret that Channing Tatum is working with FOX Studios and X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner to develop a standalone Gambit  film, and possibly be in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse, but there's been no confirmation of that.

The actor revealed in a previous interview that he would like to "change the superhero movie" with Gambit. Now, in recent interview with MTV the actor says that they are finding a writer and figuring things out. They are also looking to give fans a different and unique take on the character. So it sounds like things are definitely moving forward. He also hints at it being a smaller scale movie. He said,

“I don’t want to give too much away because we don’t know that much right now other than who Gambit is. We really do want to try our hardest to give something fresh. We’re obviously going to go to the saving the world superhero movies eventually, but not for the first one.”

The studio recently gave Deadpool the greenlight, so it wouldn't surprise me that some time in the near future they will announce Gambit as well. I just don't see how they could say no to the awesome character and the star power they have behind it. Tatum has become a big star in Hollywood, and the guy makes money.

I'm curious to see what they are planning for the character. Hopefully they don't stray too far from what the fans love about him.
