Saban Films released a trailer for their upcoming wild and cool neo-noir thriller titled American Night. The story is set in New York City in the corrupt contemporary art world where an art dealer and the ruthless head of New York's mafia fight for money, art, power, and love.

This looks like a cool movie, and it reminds me the kind of the wild over-the-top films we used to see made in the late ‘90s and early 2000s. The movie was directed by Alessio Della Valle (The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway), and the cast includes Jeremy Piven as a "stuntman and wannabe ninja”, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Emile Hirsch, Paz Vega, Michael Madsen, and Marco Leonardi. Here’s the synopsis:

Art and life collide in this stylish and wildly entertaining neo-noir thriller. When a highly coveted Andy Warhol painting suddenly surfaces, it triggers a chain reaction of danger-filled events for a colorful group of characters including: a forger turned art dealer (Jonathan Rhys Meyers); a mobster and painter (Emile Hirsch) with a penchant for scorpions; a seductive museum conservator (Paz Vega); and a stuntman and wannabe ninja (Jeremy Piven). Filled with daring double-crosses and surprising twists and turns, the race for the painting comes to an explosive conclusion… one American Night.

Saban Films will release American Night in select US theaters and on VOD on October 1st, 2021. It looks like a fun flick!
