Character from the STAR WARS Prequels Confirmed to Appear in ROGUE ONE
A certain character who was introduced in George Lucas’ Star Wars prequels is confirmed to appear in Gareth Edwards' Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. It’s just a brief cameo, but it’s kind of cool to see this character return. If you don’t want the identity of this character spoiled for you, then I suggest that you not read ahead.
Jimmy Smits will reprise his role of Bail Organa in Rogue One. We previously saw the character in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. The news comes from Smits himself during an appearance on The Talk. When he was confronted about fan speculation that he was spotted in the trailer for the film, he acted like he couldn’t say anything, and then he just let it out with a laugh saying:
“Can you say the word cameo? Can you say the words small part?”
So there you have it. Just in case you aren’t sure who this character is, he is the adoptive father of Princess Leia, and he was killed in A New Hope when the Death Star blew up the planet Alderaan. With Rogue One taking place prior to the events of A New Hope, Lucasfilm managed to find a place for him in the story so we get to see him one more time before he is obliterated.
This isn’t the only time that Smits has reprised his role of Organa. He provided the voice of the character in the 2008 video game, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.
