Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio Confirmed to Play Daredevil and Kingpin in Marvel's ECHO Series
After the Hawkeye series was released, there were rumors and speculation about Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio reprising their roles as Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil, and Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, in Marvel’s Echo series. It just seemed like common sense that this would be the case, and well… it’s now been confirmed!
Cox and D’Onofrino have officially joined the series, which is currently shooting in Atlanta. They join Hawkeye breakout Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez, a.k.a. Echo, who is a character that I really like.
The Echo series is being developed by Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen, who are writers and executive producers on the show. Reservation Dogs star Devery Jacobs also previously joined the cast. The series also stars Zahn McClarnon, Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Cody Lightning, and Graham Greene.
In the series, "the origin story of Echo revisits Maya Lopez, whose ruthless behavior in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward."
Daredevil was brought back into the MCU in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Hopefully, this time we’ll get to see him back in his Daredevil costume kicking some ass! It’s said that the Echo series Daredevil is searching out a former ally. I imagine this will also play a role in setting up his new solo series.
As for Kingpin, he played a big role in Hawkeye, and Echo was working for him. She eventually turns on him and then shoots him, but he’s obviously not dead. Those two obviously have some major issues to work through because he is responsible for her father’s death.
I’m excited about the future of Daredevil and Kingpin in the MCU, and it’ll be cool to see how their story arcs continue to play out in the upcoming Echo series!
