Charlie Cox Finally Shares His Thoughts on DAREDEVIL Being Cancelled

We’ve read reactions from several members of the cast and crew of Daredevil after it was surprisingly cancelled. One person that we didn’t hear from after the shocking news was the lead actor of the series, Charlie Cox.

Well, now the actor has broke his silence. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Cox says that he thought the series would live on because it had a lot of stories to tell:

"A lot of us really expected to keep going, and I certainly did. The truth is, I felt like we had a lot of stories to tell, and although I understand [the cancellation], I’m very saddened by that.”

He went on to talk about the weird feeling that he’s having that he may never play Matt Murdock again:

"It’s just how business works. But also, these characters mean a lot to people. It’s weird to think there’s a chance I won’t be playing Matt Murdock ever again. That’s a bizarre feeling, because that character has been such a huge part of my life for the last four and a half years."

The actor said that playing Daredevil was a “dream job” and that he loved it, saying:

"I loved it. It’s been just the most incredible job for me. It’s so fun to do. You get to do all the acting obviously, which is great, but then there’s also this really fun physical aspect to it with all the stunts and the fight choreograph.”

When asked if he had any details on a potential fourth season, Cox said:

"I hate to be boring, but to be honest, I don’t think I should answer that. It’s so new, the news. It’s quite painful for quite a lot of people. I was really excited about the ideas that were talked about for season 4, and I think if I was to speculate about it and it went on the internet, it might not be very helpful to people.… Anything I say often gets picked up and circulated, and I just want to make sure I don’t give any false hope."

However, Cox is hopeful that one day he’ll get to return to play the character. After all, Marvel did say they weren’t done with the character yet. We just don’t know what their plans are for him. When asked about coming back to the role, he said:

"Oh my God, yeah. I don’t know how this would happen, but maybe one day we could pick up the baton and do it again."

I personally would love to see Marvel continue the story with the same creative team, but there’s a chance that they might just reboot it all and start from scratch, which I think would be a shame.

What do you hope to see Marvel do with Daredevil?
