Charlie Cox on Why He’d Love to Join the AVENGERS and SPIDER-MAN Franchises
Charlie Cox has spent years bringing Daredevil to life, and with Daredevil: Born Again on the way, the actor is looking ahead to what’s next for Matt Murdock in the MCU.
In a recent interview with GQ, Cox opened up about his desire to bring the Man Without Fear to the big screen, specifically in an Avengers or Spider-Man movie.
"I think it’s more possible than it’s ever been, yeah," Cox said when asked about Daredevil’s cinematic future. "I would love to be in one of the Avengers films, or another Spider-Man, or something like that."
Cox has become a passionate fan of the character over the years, and for him, the leap to movies feels like a natural evolution.
"For a couple of reasons. One, because over the years I have become a geeky fan of the character, and I weirdly, for the character’s sake, feel like it’d be really cool for him to get that kind of upgrade. I would also just love it in terms of what it would do for my chances of getting other movie roles."
Unlike some of his peers that star in superhero projects, Cox hasn’t had an easy path to movie stardom. He even came close to landing the role of Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story but ultimately missed out.
"I’ve always had to fight for everything," he admitted. "I’ve always had to convince people."
Fans have been clamoring for Daredevil to get his time in the cinematic spotlight, and his presence in an avengers movie would be a long-overdue addition, and a team-up with Spider-Man in Spider-Man 4 feels like such a natural fit.
There are rumors that Cox will have at least some involvement in the next Avengers movies. But, we’ll just have to wait and see how things play out for him. Regardless, Daredevil deserves a proper shot at the big screen, and so does Charlie Cox.
